Influence of Steroids in BI declining among multi bacillarg Leprosy Patients with multidrug Therapy

Abstract
Steroids therapy is a well established of controlling the worst aspect of lepra reaction.
But gluco torticosteroids have complex antiinflammatory and immunosuppressive effects
and steroid-treated animals are more susceptible to infection by almost every
conceivable pathogen. Therefore it has been supposed almost every conceivable
pathogen. Therefore it has been supposed that steroids encourage the multiplication of
M. lepra and affect the course of leprosy adversely.
This study was to investigate the influence of steroids in B.I. declining among
multibacillary leprosy patients with multidrug therapy. The authors performed skin
smear examination on 41 leprosy patients with steroids therapy for more than 6 months
who had visited the outpatient clinic of Korean Leprosy Institute, Korean Leprosy
Control Association form June 1978 to September 1984 and compared this group with 28
leproys patients without steroids therapy by B.I. declining.
There was no significant difference in B.I. declining between steroids-treated group and
